Flowrate measurement of gas turbine cooling air at an advanced combined cycle power plant using the heater method for plant operation and maintenance

At a combined cycle power plant, gas turbine cooling air flowrate data is required for operation and maintenance because it an important analyzing not only the temperature of both stators blades but also plant efficiency. However, very difficult to measure data. An ultrasonic flowmeter cannot be used since measurement position becomes hot, usually exceeding 300 degrees centigrade. insert type use as requires additional pipe processing installation causes pressure loss. Accordingly, we tried heater method, which proposed validated in our previous papers. In this circumferential attached outside then axial distribution along pipe, influenced by fluid velocity measured thermocouples. The analyzed on basis pipe. Measurements were conducted two kinds at advanced plant. one, extracted from 13th stage compressor supplied 2nd turbine; other, 9th 3rd turbine. As result, was clarified that had positive dependence atmospheric compared tit 1,600 centigrade-class with output 700 MW.
